I'm so sorry but I just don't feel festive. I really wish I did, but I don't. I have been trying, I promise. This weekend I made gingerbread, listened to carols (on loop) and watched Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street (complete with lisping little girl) and It's a Wonderful Life. In a Church. With Candles. You know that when Jimmy Stewart can't make you feel Christmassy that you may as introduce yourself as Scrooge. Bah Humbug.
So, no pictures of mince pies, no pictures of the gingerbread (even though it looked lovely) and definitely no pictures of the mulled wine with its cloves, star anise and cinnamon sticks. I just feel a bit mneugh.
I'm going to stop before I ruin everyone's festive buzz. But, believe me, just because I can't make myself feel 'ho ho ho' doesn't mean I don't wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a FANTASTIC, SUCCESSFUL and VERY HAPPY 2009.
Well, at least I decorated the tree...

You're not being a buzzkill! Some Christmases are just like that. We've all been there. You could always be the first to kick off New Year's festivities ... ;)
Happy Christmas to you too. I'm sure you'll get in the mood eventually. I can't get in the the mood much until I've finished work and am on the way home for Christmas with Chris Rea playing on the radio 'Driving Home for Christmas'!!
Hope you have a wonderful time.
Thanks for that Rebecca, maybe it's all about an impromptu new year's celebration. Although I still maintain that my best new year ever was when I had tonsillitis and stayed in bed watching films. Gosh I sound dreadful don't I?!
Antonia, I love that Chris Rea song! In fact I am currently taking the train home for Christmas with a thousand memories. It's top to tail with pasengers and over priced sandwiches all around! Ha ha. Enjoy your trip back to the island.
